Clone Filing

What is a Clone Filing?

The Clone Filing feature gives industry users the ability to create a copy, or clone, of an existing draft, submitted, or closed filing that can be modified and submitted as a new filing.

How Do I Clone a Filing?

An industry filer will open a filing in view mode. While the filer is located on any of the tabs (General Information, Form Schedule, etc.), the Clone Filing button will be available. When a filer clicks the Clone Filing button, "Step 1 - Create a CLONE Filing" of the Clone Filing Wizard will display. All selections from the source filing will be the default selection in the Clone Filing Wizard. A filer will have the ability to change all default selections in the wizard which include State, TOI, Sub-TOI, and Filing Type. If the state and/or Submission Requirements differ from the source filing, Submission Requirements will not be cloned. Make the desired changes on each step of the Clone Filing Wizard. When a filer clicks the Finish button on the last step of the Clone Filing Wizard, the draft filing(s) will be created with a new SERFF Tracking Number for each filing that was cloned. The industry "View Filing Log" of the new cloned filing will have a reference to the original SERFF Tracking Number. (Note: Events associated to the original filing will not be included in the clone filing).
