Data Hosting
Industry entities using SERFF have the option to contract with a data hoster to maintain a second copy of their filing data at the hoster's facility. Contact information for authorized hosters is available at http://www.serff.com/serff_data_hosting.htm. Companies are encouraged to talk with the hosters and give serious consideration to the decision of whether to use their services.
What services does a data hoster provide?
In addition to maintaining a copy of all SERFF filings for needs such as disaster recovery and market conduct, data hosting customers have the ability to enter and track the paper filings in SERFF, utilize the SERFF Export Tool, and run reports. These features are only available to industry users through a data hoster.
When to use a data hoster and when to use SERFF
Industry users must go to their data hoster for paper tracking, exports, and reports. They may also search for and view filings and use PDF Pipeline at the hoster site.
Creating new electronic filings and corresponding with states, entering and updating company and contacts, and viewing Filing Rules should be done at the NAIC SERFF site. Draft electronic filings are only available at the NAIC site as well.
